Womens World Cup Semi Finals

After watching USA win their match against Brazil......which was arguably one of the best soccer (football) matches in World Cup history.....we took advantage of Germany playing the host nation to the Women's World Cup by attending the semi final game in Moenchengladbach.  The match took place this past Wednesday the 13th and if you have been away and have not kept up.....USA won and will be playing later today (Sunday the 17th) in the final game.  Although we will not be attending the final match in Frankfurt, we do plan to watch every play with some of our German neighbors/friends.  It should be a great match!

Some pictures from Wednesday's match.

Our friend Chris and Andrea outside of the stadium.....

Team USA warming up

Our seats were perfectly located to the crowd of enthusiastic girls......or as some would call it the "loud crowd".

USA goal keeper Hope Solo giving the USA fan section a faint smile as she warms up.....

Great seats to catch all of the action

Alex Morgan making a run for goal........

....although she missed on this run.....she made the go-ahead goal on her next attempt.

More action

The corner kick that resulted in Abby Wombach putting the ball in net to bring the game even at 1 - 1.  The pictures from Abby sliding right in front of us did not turn out unfortunately......we were too busy celebrating and cheering.

Hope fans were everywhere.......I believe I saw an AP photo of Hope signing this after the game.

USA comes over to thank the crowd...the loud crowd....for the support

One last picture before heading in

It was an amazing opportunity to see the womens team take the match in another well-played game.  Not as thrilling as the match against Brazil where they played with 10 for most of the game and ended in shootout....but still a great match to watch live.   We hope everyone has the chance to watch the team take on Japan today in their goal for being crowned number 1 in the World Cup tournament.  It is so much fun to watch this team......their fitness is amazing and you have to wonder how many young girls are becoming inspired to chase their dreams from watching this incredible story unfold.  Go team USA!
